What it does

Most "brand truth" exercises end in a confident sentence nobody checked. This skill produces one sentence of at most 25 words that passes three hard gates — tension, emotion, agency — and is backed by triangulated, cited evidence. It's a research directive, not a brainstorming prompt.

Pairs with superpowers:brainstorming. Brainstorming opens the divergent space and sharpens which truth you're hunting. This skill runs the evidence pipeline that distills it to one defensible line. Run brainstorming first when the question itself is still fuzzy.

How it works — six phases

  1. Orientation — define the lens, audience, and success criteria before any research.
  2. Secondary sourcing — sweep academic, industry, and media sources; map first tensions.
  3. Qualitative synthesis — cluster real public voices into a tension ladder, surface complaint to root cause.
  4. Validation via triangulation — draft 3–5 candidate sentences, score against evidence.
  5. Extraction & red team — pick the strongest, attack it, raise truth density.
  6. Packaging — deliver the sentence with rationale, tension map, archetypes, and lexicon.

When not to use it

Where this leads. A validated truth sentence is the foundation, not the finish line. Turning it into a complete, deployable brand system — positioning, messaging, naming, visual direction — is a full Brandprint engagement at brandedmayhem.com.
